Litchi chinensis – ‘Lychee Jean Hang’

A fast growing variety of lychee producing fruit up to 30g mid season. Lychees are an attractive evergreen tree with glossy green foliage and a spreading canopy.

Position: Protected from extreme heat and cold, full to part sun

Size & Habit: For ease of harvest keep below 5m by pruning, spreading canopy

Flower: Cream clusters, winter to early spring

Fruit: Translucent flesh, sweet and juicy

Skin: Tough, red with a fissured surface

Cropping: Summer

Harvest/Maturity: Can take up to 5 years to fruit

Pollination: Self-fertile

Uses: Eating fresh, dried, frozen, or pulped. The seed can be removed and sweet fillings stuffed in its place.
