Chestnuts are large trees growing to 10 – 15m high and up to 10m wide. Grafted trees usually bear well after 4 years. Nuts are harvested after falling from the tree. Best grown in the Perth hills or in the South West of WA.
“Marone” is a strong growing bell shaped tree which produces smooth textured sweet nuts during mid to late season. Fruit falls freely from the burr, is easy to peel and best roasted.
Pollination: Recommended to plant at least two different varieties for best results.
