Cercis – Merlot – Bare Root
A spectacular small multi-stemmed tree, especially when in flower. An excellent feature in small gardens. Prefers a moist, deep well drained position. Avoid hot exposed windy positions.
Growth Rate: Slow to moderate
Foliage: Rich purple to plum coloured heart shaped leaves.
Flower: Masses of showy, lavender-pink, pea-type flowers are produced on bare stems in early to mid spring.
Fruit: Can produce fruit similar to pea pods under ideal conditions. Pods can be persistent on the tree over winter.
