Vaccinium ashei – ‘Powder Blue’

A low chill variety suitable for the Perth area and coastal suburbs. Named for the white powdery blush present on the fruit from immaturity. For further growing information see our how to grow guide.

Position: Needs acidic soil, in Perth does best in large pots using Green Life Soil Co Blueberry Potting Mix. Needs to be protected from afternoon sun in summer 

Size & Habit: 2m x 2m, upright shrub

Flower: White, bell shaped, spring

Fruit: Medium, sweet 

Skin: Blushed pale blue, thin

Cropping: October to December

Harvest/Maturity: Can fruit in the first year

Pollination: Pollination required, plant with Climax or Brightwell 

Uses: Eating fresh, baking, drying, smoothies, preserving, syrups
