Philodendron sp. ‘Black Cardinal’

FEATURES: This bold philodendron grows as a bushy, clumping plant rather than a vining or climbing variety. Excellent beginner plants for beginners who are after something impressive to admire and easy to care for.

HEIGHT X WIDTH: 50cm x 60cm

FOLIAGE: The large, glossy leaves on this beauty change from burgundy bronze/red as juveniles and to a dark green / dark purple-brown that almost looks black as it matures

FLOWER: Insignificant, rarely seen in an indoors setting

POSITION: Bright indirect light

USES: Houseplant, understory plant, tropical gardens, feature plant, gifting

COMMENTS: Use a well-draining, evenly moist potting medium, and keep humidity levels high by putting it on a tray of pebbles and water or placing moist sphagnum moss on top of the pot. Water when the top 2 inches of soil is dry. Wipe leaves regularly to keep them dust free. Like all philodendrons- this plant is toxic to humans and pets if ingested.
