An exceptional, easy to grow perennial that is very low maintenance, performing well in sandy soils and shaded areas of the garden.

Position: Full sun to part shade, needs protection from frost

Size & Habit: 1.5m x 3m, it has a rambling habit so to keep them in check grow them up a trellis  

Flower: Star-shaped, white with purple stripes, spring and summer

Fruit: Golden, sweet and juicy, rockmelon-like flavour

Skin: Golden, thin, may have purple stripes

Cropping: Will crop in late autumn and winter

Harvest/Maturity: Will take up to two years to fruit

Pollination: Self-fertile

Uses: Underripe fruit can be added to salads. Once ripened you can eat them fresh or add then into desserts and drinks.
