“Hayward” is a popular female variety grown for its large tasty fruit that ripens in autumn. 

Fruit size: Large

Flesh: Green, sweet 

Skin: Brown and fuzzy

Pollination: Needs to be planted in the vicinity of a male plant to produce fruit. One male to every five females. 

Position: A large deciduous vine requiring a strong support. Protect from hot winds. Requires higher chill hours and is not suitable for some Perth suburbs. Plant in a position that gets morning sun and afternoon shade in summer.
