Hakea bucculenta 

Price range: $16.99 through $24.99

FEATURES: An upright medium shrub, native to sand plains from Geraldton to Shark Bay. Striking red poker-shaped flowers attract insects and native birds.

SIZE: Up to 6m H x 6m W

FOLIAGE: Narrow, linear, 10-20cm long

FLOWER: Tapered orange-red flower spikes from autumn to spring

POSITION: Plant into well drained, improved soil in an open, full sun to part shade position out of strong winds.

USES: Coastal and native gardens, embankments, rockeries and borders

COMMENTS: Prune to encourage a dense growth habit. Good drainage is essential as H. buccalenta is susceptible to root rot.
