Finger Lime – Byron Sunrise
Citrus australasica – “Byron Sunrise”
Byron Sunrise is a very slender small growing tree. Up to 2 metres high and less than one metre wide. Ideal for small gardens, pots and containers. The dark skinned finger limes hold tangy light pink coloured citrus pearls that darken to a deep red and strengthen in flavour when the fruit is cut and exposed to the air. It’s most unusual and yet another quirky speciality of the finger limes.
Plant in a sunny warm position, protected from harsh winds and keep the water and fertiliser up over the warmer months. Fruit is ripe over the autumn, trees will begin to produce fruit in the 2nd autumn after they’ve been planted. Needs to be planted in a free draining soil with plenty of organic matter. Protect from frost.
