A large deciduous tree, it can grow to 5 m tall and 5m wide. It is a great tree to grow as a summer shade tree in medium to large gardens with the added bonus of having delicious fruit. The plant will prefer a position in well-drained soils and a full sun exposure. Mulch to keep the roots cool and moist is appreciated.

The fruit will not ripen once harvested so wait until soft before harvesting. They can be enjoyed straight off the tree or cooked.

‘Black Coronata’ has large fruit with pink flesh that ripen mid season.
