Canna – ‘Tropicanna’

A beautiful canna that produces orange flowers during the Summer, but looks eye catching year round thanks to its wonderful foliage striped in shades of purple, yellow and orange. It can reach 1.5 meters tall and 1.5 metres wide and is great in pots, as a border plant or as a mass planted display. It will grow best in moist soils in full sun to part shade, if it doesn’t receive enough light or water the leaves will start to lose their colour. This plant needs to be protected from winds and frost, cooler weather may cause it to die back but it will re-sprout again in the warmer months. To keep it looking its best remove old canes and flowers to encourage healthy new growth and if in a pot divide the plant whenever you feel it is getting too crowded.
