Alocasia gigantea – ‘Giant Elephants Ear’

A lovely tropical plant growing to 2m tall and 1.5m wide. It has enormous leaves held up by thick succulent stems.

It is an excellent performer in bright positions indoors and on patios as it grows well in pots and appreciates the protection from temperature extremes. It can also be grown in the garden where it helps bring a tropical feel.

It should be grown in an area of dappled shade with moist well draining soils. They can be grown on the edges of ponds as they appreciate wet feet. They should be regularly fertilised as this will help them grow to their full size and potential.
