An evergreen native tree with glossy, dark green foliage and an upright to spreading canopy. It flowers in spring producing sprays of scented white flowers followed by the delicious nuts. This cultivar was developed in Hawaii and is tolerant of warm climates but can be damaged by wind. In most locations in Western Australia these trees will require irrigation.
Position: Full sun, protect from stong winds and hot summer afternoon sun while young.ย
Size & Habit: Medium to large tree up to 20m but can be pruned to maintain it at a smaller size. Upright, spreading with an open canopy that becomes more dense as the tree ages.ย
Flower: White spray, spring, sweet scent, early season but has a long flowering period
Fruit:ย Small to medium, creamy white
Skin: Smooth shell, rounded
Cropping: Autumn to winter, mid to late season
Harvest/Maturity: Can take up to 5 years to fruit
Pollination: Self fertile, cropping improved if planted with 344 or 849
Uses: Eating raw or roasted, adding into savory dishes, deserts or baked goods.ย
