Wisteria floribunda “Japanese Wisteria – Longissima”

Variety that produces mauve flowering in very long racemes (50-100 cm long!). Sometimes referred to as Japanese wisteria. A vigorous deciduous climber that need a large and strong support, it can be trained up as a standard on a pole support then allowed to canopy out giving a weeping tree effect. Leaves turn buttery yellow before falling in autumn.

Hanging racemes of fragrant mauve pea-like flowers are produced in early spring sometimes followed by hanging seed pods. Plant in full sun. Young plants can take up to 4-5 years to produce flowers.
