Vitex trifolia purpurea

A lovely hardy shrub the grows to 4m tall and 3m wide. The leaves have purple tones on the underside of the foliage and during Spring and Summer the plant is covered purple blooms that are attractive to bees and butterflies. It adds an outstanding pop of colour to the garden as the purple foliage is a rarer tone to find. It should be planted in a position with either part shade to full sun and it needs moist but well drained soils. It should be mulched in Summer and needs supplementary water during drier periods. Once flowering is complete the plant can be pruned to shape.
