Tulbaghia violacea variegata – ‘Society Garlic’

A sweet strappy plant with cream and green striped foliage and lilac flowers borne above the plant. A relative of the onion family, Tulbaghia is a produces a garlic smell when leaves or flowers are crushed, which can serve as a useful pest repellant in the garden. Flowers for a long period from summer through autumn. Low maintenance and hardy, Tulbaghia is suitable for a range of garden environments. Use as a border, to fill in gaps, in rockeries, plant en masse, and is perfect for pots and mixed containers.
Tolerates some periods of dryness but does best with regular watering. Plant in a sunny to partly shaded position in well-drained, improved soil. Apply a slow release fertiliser in spring. Will grow 30-40cm high x 30cm wide.
