Popular rhubarb variety producing some of the sweetest green and red stems, ideal for cooking in stews, pies and other desserts. Leaves are toxic and should not be eaten.

To plant, choose a site with morning sun and protection from the afternoon sun. Improve soil with plenty of organic matter and ensure it is well drained. Rhubarb does not like to be distubed so choose a permanent position, and space 1-1.5m apart. Ideal planting time is winter to early spring. Fertilise regularly and water well. Rhubarb prefers a cool climate but with adequate protection from the afternoon sun can be successfully grown in warmer climates.
