Delonix regia var. flavida – ‘Yellow Poinciana’

The Poinciana tree is a stunning tropical tree for medium to large gardens. It has a broad spreading habit, typically with more width than height. It has attractive bipinnate leaves that are a vibrant green shade. This specific variety produces stunning yellow flowers instead of the more typical red. May take several years to produce flowers. Not recommended for frost-prone areas.

Height: Up to 15m but likely to remain smaller in Perth

Width: 10m

Growth Rate: Moderate

Foliage: Rich green, feathery bipinnate leaves.

Bark: Greyish – brown

Flowers: Masses of deep yellow flowers in summer. Followed by ornate seed pods.

Requires rich, well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter and moderate moisture. Prefers a pH of 6.5-7.
