Petrea “Sandpaper Vine” is a robust, scrambling vine originating in Central and South America. Masses of lilac-purple flowers bloom through spring and summer. Rough, sandpapery leaves give the plant its common name. Train up trellises and over arches and pergolas. Perfect for covering fences and walls. Stems become thick and woody with age.

For best results, plant in a sunny position with well-drained, improved soil. Protect from frost while young. Will grow up to 6m in height but can be controlled by pruning after flowering.
