Pandanus amaryllifolius – ‘Pandan’

A useful tropical plant with fragrant, tough, green leaves that develops a small trunk as it grows. 

It is used in various South and South-East Asian dishes to flavour both savoury and sweet foods.

It should be grown in a humid, part shade position in very fertile, well drained soil. It should be protected from the cold, winter nights in Perth by bringing it indoors or into a sheltered position. It likes regular fertilisation with foliar and slow release fertiliser during the warmer months of the year.
