Also known as scented laurel or copper laurel. The perfumed white flowers in summer are followed by small, sweet urn-shaped berries. When ripe in winter they turn from green to brown.
Can beย eaten straight from the tree or used in cooking, beverages, jams, desserts and jellies. If tried and crushed, it can also be used as a spice.
Small tree or large shrub growing to 5 m high by 3 m wide. Can be kept pruned to maintain a more compact habit or kept in a large pot. Full sun to part shade, mulch well and water during dry periods. Protect from frost and hot dryingย winds.
