Litchi chinensis – ‘Erdon Lee’

An attractive, long-lived small tree with glossy green foliage. It produces clusters of extra large fruit, up to 4 times larger than regular lychee fruit.

Position: Needs a full sun position with protection from wind and frost

Size & Habit: Evergreen with a spreading habit, 2-5m

Flower: Cream clusters

Fruit: Sweet, translucent white with a single brown seed

Skin: Red and textured, easy to peel

Cropping: Summer, mid to late season

Harvest/Maturity: Can take 3-6 years to fruit

Pollination: Self-fertile

Uses: Eating fresh, dried, frozen, or pulped. The seed can be removed and sweet fillings stuffed in its place.
