Citrus hystrix – ‘Kaffir’

 

 

Price range: $34.99 through $119.99

It has distinctive leaves that are commonly used in Asian cooking, especially in Thai dishes. The small fruit can also be used for cooking.

Position: Full sun, in improved acidic soil. 

Size & Habit: 3m tall x 3m wide, very thorny

Flower: White, scented

Fruit: Round, seedy with limited juice

Skin: Aromatic, wrinkled, green

Cropping: As leaves are the main crop harvest year-round as required, 

Harvest/Maturity: Can harvest as soon as plant has enough growth

Pollination: Self-fertile

Uses: Flavouring soup, stir-fry, curries, drinks, desserts, and salads.
