A popular but unusual citrus used in East Asian dishes. Its bitter/ acidic flavour is not lost when cooked making it a valuable addition to the kitchen garden. 

Position: Full sun, do not plant under this tree as it has shallow roots and despises root competition. 

Size & Habit: 3m H x 3m W, small tree with thorns

Flower:  White, fragrant, spring and summer

Fruit: Medium, seedy, pale yellow, tart and refreshing flavour

Skin: Thick rind, deep yellow

Cropping: Autumn and winter

Harvest/Maturity: 2-3 years

Pollination: Self fertile 

Uses: Rind and juice are used to flavour dishes, deserts, drinks and to create preserves. It is not suited for eating fresh.
