Imperata cylindrica ‘rubra’ – ‘Japanese Blood Grass’

A stunning ornamental grass with leaves tipped with blood red. It can grow to 50cm tall and 50cm wide.

It is a wonderful contrast plant to use for underplanting trees, in rockeries and garden beds. It can also be grown in pots and containers as a colourful display. 

It should be planted in full sun to part shade in well drained soils. For best colour it should be kept moist and fertilised with a slow release fertiliser in spring. In cool climates it may lose its leaves in winter but warmer areas will have a year round colourful display.
