Humulus lupulus – ‘Hops Chinook’

Used by craft brewers to add a delicious flavour to beers. The vine is deciduous and should be cut to 10 to 15cm at the start of winter to allow it to regrow the following spring.

Position: Protected from full afternoon summer sun, needs to be grown on a trellis or supportive structure

Size & Habit: Can grow up to 8m tall, vigorous vine

Flower: Green to white, summer

Fruit: Medium size, pine-like flavour with grapefruit hints

Skin: Green, pine cone appearance

Cropping: Fruits matures in autumn 

Harvest/Maturity: Should fruit the season after purchase 

Pollination: Self-fertile

Uses: Used for aroma and bittering purposes when creating craft brews
