‘American White’ (‘Wanliss Pride’) nuts can be roasted, blanched, pureed, cooked, or eaten fresh. Hazelnuts are very high in protein. The tree will grow 2.5-3m. Prefers cool temperate climates. Best grown in a sheltered position protected from hot winds and with shade from hot afternoon sun.
Nut: Large, mahogany-brown, ripens in autumn
Shape: Rounded-squat
Cropping: Very precocious
Growth rate: Slow to moderate
Possible Pollinators: Due to a unique pollination system Hazelnuts are unpredictable for recommendation of pollinating cultivars. Although both male and female flowers are borne on the same tree, they don’t always flower at the same time. Planting different varieties will assist with pollination.
