Grewia caffra –  ‘Lavender Star’

Grewia is a beautiful evergreen shrub or small tree. It is fast growing, reaching to 3m tall and 2m wide with oval shaped leaves. During summer the plant blooms with stunning lavender-purple star flowers which are followed by ornamental brown berries. The flowers are very attractive to bird and insect life, especially butterflies. It needs a position in full sun to part shade in moist well drained soils. It can be used as an attractive hedge in the garden or also grown in a pot.
