Citrus australasica – Red
140 mm pot
$29.99 – $34.99
A thorny large shrub or small tree native to the sub-tropical rainforests of the Queensland – New South Wales border. White flowers are followed by tangy cylindrical red fruit with a pink flesh and juice. The vesicles have a distinctive caviar like appearance, making an attractive edible garnish. The fruit can be used to make jam, marmalade and chutney, while the juice can be used in drinks and salad dressings.
Can reach 4-6 metres high but more likely to reach 2-3 m in Perth. Prefers a part-shade and warm position in a free draining soil with plenty of organic matter. Protect from frost.
