Dill is an easy to grow hardy annual that is an essential herb for any kitchen. The feathery fernlike foliage resembles Fennel more in appearance than in taste. While Fennel has a strong licorice flavour, Dill is much milder with a light aniseed taste.

Position: Full sun to part shade. Prefers fertile, moist soil.

Uses: Dill enhances the flavours of other herbs and should be added to dishes just prior to serving. Mix with cucumber, coriander and yoghurt to make a tasty side for curries, Greek and Mexican dishes. Both the feathery fern-like foliage and the seeds are edible. Use the seed in teas, salad, breads and dressings.
