Coriander sativum
100mm pot
$5.99
In stock
An essential kitchen herb, Coriander grows as small clumps of bright green leaves with scalloped edges. It is fast growing and can be grown year round but performs at its best in Autumn and Winter. Summer grown Coriander is quick to go to seed and requires at least daily watering to stop the plant from wilting especially on hot days.
Flower Colour: White to Pale Purple
Position: Part shade, especially in warmer seasons, in well-drained soil. Can tolerate full sun in Winter. Avoid planting in summer as it quickly goes to seed.
Uses: All parts of the plants are edible. The freshly picked leaves and dried seeds are most commonly used. Coriander roots have a deeper, more intense flavour than the leaves and are a staple ingredient of many Asian dishes. Coriander is often referred to as Cilantro especially on US cooking shows and recipe books. If your recipe calls for Cilantro, Coriander is the same plant.
