Colocasia esculenta “Red Stem”

Tropical clumping perennial with large heart shaped mid-green leaves. This variety of taro has a attractive red stem and veining on the underside of the leaves. As with the ordinary taro the tuber is edible when cooked. The young leaves can alos be eaten if well cooked. Grows up to 1.5m high. Suitable for either growing in a pond or in moist/boggy soil. Partial shade preffered but will tolerate full sun.
