An extremely popular and versatile plant, it can be pruned into a small tree, shrub, espaliered or used as a hedge. They have beautiful flowers and are an excellent addition to any garden. They need acidic soils so should only be added into the ground when you have prepared the soil for them with lots of organic matter. They should be kept moist during summer with regular applications of mulch to keep the roots cool.

‘Dona Herzilia’ is a mid-season flowering variety with medium, anemone-like flowers produced during winter and spring. The flowers can be differing shades of purples and red depending on the soil pH, age of the plant or temperature during bud development. It can grow up to 3m tall and 3m wide. It should be grown in a position protected from afternoon sun and heat, especially during summer.
