An extremely popular and versatile plant, it can be pruned into a small tree, shrub, espaliered or used as a hedge. They have beautiful flowers and are an excellent addition to any garden. They need acidic soils so should only be added into the ground when you have prepared the soil for them with lots of organic matter. They should be kept moist during summer with regular applications of mulch to keep the roots cool.
‘Brushfield’s Yellow’ has spectacular flowers with tightly ruffled, double petaled yellow centres and surrounded by large, antique white petals. It flowers in winter and spring. It can grow up to 3m tall and 2m wide. It should be planted in a position protected from the afternoon sun and heat, especially during summer.
