Diospryros digyna “Black Sapote”
Also known as the Chocolate Pudding Fruit.
Evergreen tree native to Mexico. Can reach up to 6m but most likely less in Perth. The round fruit has a thin green skin and dark brown flesh that tastes sweetly of chocolate. Fruit is harvested when hard and left top ripen off the tree.
Dig in plenty of organic matter when planting. Plant in a protected but open and sunny position. Protect from frost.
