Persea americana – Hazzard

An upright, compact evergreen tree that produces medium-sized, pear-shaped fruit. A great cultivar for the home garden, ‘Hazzard’ generally produces a good crop.

Position: Needs a full sun position with protection from wind, protect from frost

Size & Habit: 9m x 4m, attractive shade tree

Flower: Creamy green, insignificant

Fruit: Pear shape, creamy flesh with good flavour

Skin: Green when ripe, pebbly, peels easily

Cropping: Fruit will ripen from July to September

Harvest/Maturity: It can take up to five years to produce its first harvest

Pollination: Is an A type and benefits from the presence of ‘B type’ avocado

Uses: Eating fresh, in salads, blended in smoothies, used to make dips
