Persea americana – ‘Choquette’

An A type avocado that is a hybrid between a West Indian and Guatemalan avocado. 

Position: Needs a full sun position with protection from wind, protect from frost

Size & Habit: 9m x 6m, attractive shade tree

Flower: Creamy green, insignificant

Fruit: Large, up to 1kg, subtle flavour with buttery hints, green to yellow flesh

Skin: Smooth, green

Cropping: Fruit will ripen from July to September

Harvest/Maturity: It can take up to five years to produce its first harvest

Pollination: Self-fertile but can benefit from the presence of a B type avocado

Uses: Eating fresh, in salads, blended in smoothies, used to make dips
