Mangifera indica – ‘Nam Doc Mai’

A bright yellow mango with a pointed base. It is a fibreless variety known for its rich flavour and sweetness.

Position: Needs a full sun position with protection from wind, protect from frost

Size & Habit: Up to 20-30m, but can be maintained as low as 2m with yearly pruning. Attractive domed habit.

Flower: Creamy green, insignificant

Fruit: Fibreless, pale green to yellow, sweet and rich

Skin: Yellow

Cropping: Late summer to autumn

Harvest/Maturity: It can take up to five years to produce its first harvest

Pollination: Self-fertile

Uses: Eating fresh, in salads, added to or flavouring desserts, and blended in smoothies. Fruit can also be harvested green and used for pickles or salads.
