Luffa aegyptica – ‘Luffa/Loofah’

A vigorous vine with a zucchini-like fruit that can be either used as a vegetable when young (10-12cm) or if the fruit is left to grow and dry on the vine it can be turned into a natural sponge. The young shoots, leaves and flower buds are also edible.
