Curcuma longa – Turmeric

Price range: $19.99 through $54.99

FEATURES: A lush perennial herb that produces the fleshy rhizomes that can be harvested for delicious and authentic Asian cooking

SIZE: Up to 80cm H 

FOLIAGE: Broad, vivid green leaves

FLOWER: Tall white flower stems.

POSITION: Grow in a partly shaded position in moist, well-drained soil. Protect from hot sun.

USES: Grated rhizomes create a fresh or dried culinary spice and dye to flavour asian and curry dishes. Leaves can also be used in cooking such as steaming fish.

COMMENTS: Rhizome clumps should be broken up and replanted every few years. In cooler climates, plant will go dormant through winter.
