Warrine (Dioscorea hastifolia) – Bush Tucker
Dioscorea hastifolia “Warrine”
Also known as Warran, Warrine is an edible WA native yam, with long, sweet, white tubers. Harvest during the Noongar season of Kambarang (spring). The tubers are edible raw, however taste better roasted.
The climbing shrub or ground cover tolerates sandy soil and drought, and will go dormant in summer when the foliage dies down. Reshoots in autumn with attractive foliage and yellow flowers. Suitable for garden beds and large pots. Full sun/part shade.
