Ozothamnus – Australian Rice Flower – Colour Surprise
Ozothamnus hybrid – ‘Colour Surprise’
A hardy shrub growing to 1.2m tall and 70cm wide with long stems covered in fine, green leaves. From late winter to spring the plant is covered in colourful buds and flowers. The buds start out red and fade to pink before the yellow flowers open.
The colour changing blooms make it a great addition to native and cottage gardens. It can also be used a fresh or dry cut flower in floral arrangements.
It should be grown in well draining soil in a full sun position. Once it is established it has low water needs.
