Ornamental pears are one of the best trees for Perth gardens tolerating heat and periods of dry. Most varieties also take wet positions and heavy soils as well as variable soil pH, some even do coastal sites. Plant in full sun for best flowering and autumn colour.

This ornamental pear may require pruning for strong limb, trunk and crown structure.

Foliage: Dark green turning red-orange, purplish to yellow during autumn

Flower: White flowers during early spring.  Can be variable.

Bark: Dark greyish brown, fissured with age

Tolerances: Slightly alkaline soils, some coastal exposure and intermittently waterlogged soils.
