Chestnuts are large trees growing to 10 – 15m high and up to 10m wide. Grafted trees usually bear well after 4 years. Nuts are harvested after falling from the tree. Best grown in the Perth hills or in the South West of WA.
“Emerald Gem” produces very large light brown shiny nuts, with a distinct large base. Nut is enclosed in a green prickly burr. Used for cooking and roasting. Matures late April.
Pollination: Recommended to plant at least two different varieties for best results.
