Also known as celery root, or turnip-rooted celery, this is a versatile vegetable grown for its large and bulbous root rather than for its stem and leaves. 

Position: Sunny spot that gets a little shade in summer, needs moist soil. 

Uses: Roots have a celery flavour that can be used in soups, sauces and salads. Can be used raw or cooked. Mashed, baked or roasted, it is delicious.
