Banksia menziesii – ‘Firewood Banksia’
A fantastic tall tree able to grow up to 10m tall and 8m wide. It has attractive, textured grey bark and stiff, silvery green leaves. From summer though to winter it produces lovely orange to pink acorn shaped flowers.
It is an excellent plant for attracting native birds and insects to the garden thank to its long flowering period. It is great for medium to large gardens as a habitat tree or as a sculptural specimen tree.
It should be planted in very well draining soils in a full sun position. It is sensitive to phosphorous so need to be fertilised with native fertiliser. It should be watered well after planting but once established will be drought tolerant.
