Carica pentagona “Babaco”
The Babaco is a more compact relative of the papaya, with fruit described as tasting somewhere between that of a papaya, pineapple and strawberry, though not very sweet.
The Babaco grows to about 2.5 metres. Plant into rich, well draining soil. Requires a position with good morning sun or it will not set fruit, although it also requires protection from the hot afternoon sun and wind. Tolerates light frost.
