Easily grow attractive perennial that has a tuberous root. Can be divided once established. The silvery grey-green leaves are ornamental and if allowed to bloom the flowers are thistle-like and vibrant blue/purple. The flower heads of this variety are an attractive deep purple and tend to have more heart than the green globe variety.
Growing Conditions: Grows best in full sun. Prefers well drained soil improved with organic matter.
Size: Clumping perennial that can reach 1.8m when flowering, foliage to 1m high. Plant the young plants 90cm apart.
Use: The edible flower heads are harvested before opening in Spring.
